Swine Pooh (and Piglet too)

Okay, I just cannot take it another moment! If I hear one more crazy ass report on new closings and cancellations because a few dozen people world wide have succumbed to the flu I am going to climb to the top of ... well my house is the tallest thing I can think of right now .... and SCREAM! It is the flu!
I do not blame people for panicking, really. The media has taken this and run with it! They get out there and tell everyone there is a world wide pandemic (which I think is a bit redundant, isn't it?) and plead with everyone to basically run and take cover! After they have the viewers, readers or listeners in a full frenzy, they will than nonchalantly add that the symptoms really aren't that severe and there is no reason to panic. What?! How can anyone hear that if they are busy grabbing the kids and grandparents and holing up for the Spring? It's hard to hear over the banging of nails and squealing of tires ...
Last year over 35,000 people died of the "regular" flu, whatever that is. I don't remember anyone flying off the handle on that one. Truly, if you need some disease to go crazy over, check in with me ... I got a list for you!
I am blaming the same media frenzy that had people digging holes in the ground to live in and stockpiling canned goods and bottled water (without reminding people they would need a NON electric can opener!) in the months leading up to the new millennium. Y2K sound familiar anyone? There is so much going on in the world today that truly needs our attention... we really need to have all the pigs in Egypt slaughtered and people sequestered to their homes ? Friends, just wash your hands and use common sense. Not only will you stay safe from the flu, but even that pandemic called the Common Cold may stay at bay!!!
Now if you really want to make a difference in the world's health situation, how about considering that by the end of this day FORTY SEVEN children (that's 47! ) will be diagnosed with cancer. As we all know ~ firsthand for many of us ~ many of these kids won't survive and those that do have months, and in my daughter's case years, of life altering treatments. They are never ever the same again, nor are their family and friends.
We have been receiving heartbreaking news recently about several of our Warrior Friends and I just can't help but think there has got to be something we can do! Please consider joining our Curesearch Walk on Nov. 7th in Charlotte, NC or possibly pledging to the cause. If you haven't been effected yet and things don't change soon, I can promise you will be!
